Go out and Visit TRADE FAIRS - Why?

Yesterday, while so many of us were waiting for the presidential debate to start, I was in the Manila FAME's boutique edition where Philippine products such as furniture and home furnishings, holiday gifts and decor, and fashion accessories are exhibited - mainly to match trade buyers to our exporters.
On the Manila FAME's website, one will read: "Crafted in the Philippines, for the World." (http://www.manilafame.com/en/index.php)
I usually visit trade fairs when I have time. I always feel proud when I see Philippine made products that are so beautifully designed and crafted.
As a writer of poems, reflections and travel blogs, I am inspired by what I see, touch, and even taste (from a food fair). These pieces I see in the trade fairs would one day end up in far away shores - they will be travelling and will make so many people across the globe - smile, feel relaxed, appreciate what we can create from nature, and perhaps these pieces will contribute to the success of other businesses too.
As a student-potter, I get new ideas on what is possible - when shaping pieces - and what textures are pleasing to the eyes. The different shapes, colors and textures excite me...
As a homemaker, I can imagine possibilities of how to decorate my abode - with what I have at home and not necessarily spend a lot of money to make my home pleasing. First and foremost, my home should please my senses. As they say, happiness is home-made...
As a workshop facilitator, I am inspired to be even more creative in my work. I am inspired by the dynamism and determination of craftsmen and women, business-owners/entrepreneurs, marketing staff and the others who are involved in the process of making something sell, making something attractive, making something worth spending our money on.
As a citizen of the Philippines, I am inspired by those who laboured to produce such beautiful products because they embody what every Filipino should aspire for - creativity, discipline, industriousness, tenacity, to stand tall and proud - that is, be proud of ourselves and confident of our abilities...
Yes, crafted in the Philippines, for the world!

My challenge to each one of us is: "Be the first to see what we ought to be proud of."
Go to your local trade fair, your weekend markets, or visit the artisans in your barangays or municipalities. We must show our politicians - that we can do better - and we already have done it - with or without them, in spite of their seeming inability to get their acts together or to go beyond their narcissistic tendencies!
Be inspired!

Here are a few photos of what I discovered at the trade exhibit (shots from my phone only...apologies for this as I did not bring my camera)....
